Hi, I’m Justin. I grew up in a small farm town in Northeast Ohio. After heading down to The Ohio State University and graduating with an Economics Degree I wasn’t quite sure what I was going to do in life. All signs pointed towards life as an accountant until I got a job writing for a well known outdoor company.

As a lifelong backpacker/hiker it was the perfect chance to combine work and play. How could I pass up the opportunity to write about one of my favorite hobbies? I was able to turn my love of backpacking into a full-time job.

While my first love will always be backpacking, I’m up for just about any outdoor activity you can think of. I love going on day hikes, indoor/outdoor climbing, biking, skiing and I’m just starting to get into winter mountaineering.

Hopefully I can take some time off work this year to continue section hiking. I grew up in Ohio, so I have my eyes on the Buckeye trail come spring. I’d like to bite off a big chunk before I have to head back to work.
